This Sunday, the San Luis Obispo County Committee working to defeat Proposition 8 will be staffing phone banks, displaying signs and rallying in San Luis Obispo to highlight the growing coalition of Californians who don’t want to eliminate rights for anyone.

Like activities that are taking place in dozens of counties throughout California, volunteers in San Luis Obispo will be taking their message to voters about equality and fairness.

“The volunteer activity in our campaign has been incredible,” said Clay Marsh. I’ve worked in many political campaigns and I’ve never seen so many individuals and so many different groups willing to help us get our message out.”

“We are delighted to be joining volunteers throughout California for this weekend of action,” said local organizer David Kilburn. “We know that when voters realize that gay and lesbian couples are their neighbors, friends, co-workers and family members, when they understand that loving and committed couples who have been together for years should have the same fundamental rights as all Californians – and when they truly understand that Prop 8 would eliminate those fundamental rights, they will join us in voting NO.”

The San Luis Obispo County local coalition includes women’s groups, civil rights groups, faith leaders and members of congregations, labor union members, teachers, Democrats, Republicans and Independents. They will be working throughout the weekend to urge voters to VOTE NO on Proposition 8.

What Time: 1:00 pm gather for the rally then at 2:00 pm proceed down Higuera St. to
505 Higuera St. for phone banking.
