The city is going broke
I just read in either the Trib or the TPR that Grover is short on money again. Seems sales tax revenue is down. Guess when people think shopping they don't automatically think "Wow, Grover has it all, let go shop there" I've heard for years that the city is going to develop new businesses, but it seems the opposite has happened. Grand Ave is full of empty buildings and when a new business comes to the area they either go to AG or Pismo.
Thus, reduced revenue, crumby streets, flooding during rain and as the City Manager said the other day "belt tightening"
But I guess that any one who has lived there very long knows all this and doesn't care or can't do anything about the situation.
Cheers to all.
Grover Beach officials are abusing an old lady. If you read the story in the Trib, you know that officials have been aware of this cruel treatment of an elderly Grover Beach property owner for some time. The city manager and city council have the power to give this woman access to her home now but would rather waste the city's money fighting her. So much for doing the right thing.
The officials can say they are following their attorney's advice, but they are the client telling their attorney what they want done. They are choosing to fight this old woman in a cruel and immoral manner.

What a stupid, illogical and avoidable mess. Good to see that they have their priorites straight.
I think it may be time for the city of Grover Beach to consider dissolving their incorporation of some years ago. I think the city leaders have been so lacking in competence that the city is no longer viable. Not enough money coming in to pay staff and maintain the infrastructure. The streets look like they belong in a Third World Country. The city council is good for a lot of talk, but very little progress and things seem to be getting worse.
