Adding to the social networking boom we've got going on here, I've made us a Twitter. So we're tweeting.
It's linked to our breaking news feed, so you'll get news as soon as it hits our site. When bigger events happen, we'll definitely be tweeting then.
What is Twitter?
Twitter is microblogging, which is basically really, really lazy blogging. It's fast and easy, easily updated from your IM software, cell phone or various applications. Tweets are individual posts and they're only a few words long. Lots of people use them to update what they're doing throughout the day, from every day people to political candidates.
Why is the Tribune using Twitter?
A lot of other news sites have joined the Twitter revolution and as news moves more online, it's made us into a 24-hour operation. News has to be updated quickly and easily on web sites. During big events, it can get too clunky or difficult to post individual stories during the day, so many news organizations have turned to blogging, and micro-blogging to assist. It's easy for us and you can turn to one page and refresh it all day to get the latest.
