Ninjas. Accept no substitutes.
And of course ninjas have their own holiday, right here in California!
(NOTE: That link leads to parody site The Onion, which features some salty language.)

Just in case there was any doubt left in anyone's mind: Official Ninja Webpage

Pirates - Awesome ride at Disneyland...
Ninjas - Sad and pathetic excuse for a roller coaster at Magic Mountain that you ride only when all of the other rides have huge lines...
And let's just state the obvious here...
Pirate - Johnny Depp
Ninja - Steven Seagal
Nuff said.

You ask me, I say we're simply saturated with pirates now days. And, frankly, I'm a little tired of them.
First of all, try brushing your teeth, pirates. Secondly, how'z about speaking intelligently? All I ever hear from pirates is "aye" this and "matey" that.
Read a book, pirates!
I'm not a huge fan of ninjas -- you can probably blame those turtle dudes for that -- but at least they're in good shape, what with the jumping and all. So I'm officially endorsing ninjas.
-

But the thing with ninjas is, they don't really exist. That's why no one ever sees them. Not because they're stealthy or operate solely under the cover of darkness or whatever. But because they're mythical creatures, like unicorns and the Olsen twins.
Whereas pirates ... well, if you don't believe in pirates, try sailing off the coast of Somalia sometime. Those dudes will come right up on you so fast you won't know what hit you. They'll hijack your boat, steal your stuff and scare the crap right outta your pants. But instead of making you walk the plank, they'll probably just shoot you in the head. Because pirates are HARD-CORE.

Oh, and D, you gotta at least ATTEMPT to not look so one sided...I mean come on, cartoons? Pfft. Shows your desperation. Why should I attempt that? Besides, both those images are based on video/computer games, not cartoons. Now if you want to discuss the relative merits of said games, you'll have a point - The Monkey Island series is one of the best there is.
Ninjas - outfits are cooler and if Tim says so, it must be true.I have nothing to add here. I just wanted to test double quoting, and needed to quote a user with an avatar.

So, what, I need an avatar now??
Obviously your chosen graphical representation for a pirate is just meant to be inflammatory. What happened to fair and unbiased media positions?? *giggle*
Seriously, for me, pirates are the only choice. I have to admire anyone who can actually exist in the sun that much...especially since I know that the sun IS trying to kill me.

No, creasyzs has one. I just wanted to make sure that the av doesn't get quoted along with the content.
Anyway, back on topic!
Pirate - Johnny Depp
Ninja - Steven Seagal
Ninja - Chuck Norris (officially, apparently).
Warning: I take no responsibility for any colourful language on that link.

I tried being a ninja for the last two years, simply lurking around SLO County after moving here from L.A. It really hasn't worked for me, so I'm switching to becoming a Pirate. Yarr. Expect to be raided, pillaged, keelhauled and forced to walk the plank on a regular basis.
I have been blogging on-and-off for over 8 years at WendellWit.com and was one of the first members of the Community Weblog MetaFilter, so I know online communities... it's the Real World ones that still baffle me after more than 50 years. Maybe your little web thingy here will provide a bridge for me. I'll start up a blog here later today, but expect mostly cross-posts from my other places, especially since I have another domain for my 'local blogging' that I'll use as soon as I get out of this boring black outfit and get some of Johnny Depp's eyeliner.

Of course, when this poll is closed, you should have the winner go up against Vikings. Because, except for that football team in Minneapolis, Vikings are awesome, especially when you're sleeping.

Pirates only have one real leg. Ninjas are stealthy.
